Maloof + Corbusier
Le Corbusier created an iconic work called the ‘Basculant chair’ that reflects the em- phasis on beauty through chrome and industrial processes.
Sam Maloof was a famous proponent of the later arts and crafts movement in the US, who wanted to revive craftsmanship. His rocking chair is his most famous work.
My work here was to attempt to combine the traits of both chairs in an appropriate manner.
Process
The journey was exciting because it involved a lot of carving, sculpting, weaving and woodworking (joinery).
